CBD Tattoo Creams, Balms, and Tinctures for pre and post care
Tattooing, by no means a new art form, continues to gain popularity as a means of self expression, creativity, and personal style. People interested in getting their first tattoo or those adding fresh ink are increasingly looking at the best ways to prepare for, recover from, and maintain their newly decorated skin. Many are discovering that CBD tinctures and topicals offer welcome help in calming nerves, reducing pain and inflammation, promoting healing, and preserving skin condition and long-term tattoo vibrancy.*
CBD Before the Tattoo: Relaxation and Pain Relief
Taking a CBD tincture before the tattoo may help promote calm and relaxation, and therefore make the session less stressful for you and provide a less fidgety canvas for your tattoo artist. In addition, CBD may result in pain relief and improved pain management, thereby allowing for a more enjoyable tattoo experience. Containing 25 mg/mL of premium CBD extract in organic MCT coconut oil, a dose of Trove CBD Oil 750 taken under the tongue will help enhance calm and mental focus, while also providing relief from pain and inflammation throughout the body, assisting in your preparation for, and comfort during, your tattoo session. Trove CBD Capsules 25 offer similar benefits in a convenient capsule form.
Applying CBD tattoo cream topically to the skin prior to the tattoo session may also calm and nurture the skin, and reduce pain and inflammation during and after the tattooing process. Trove CBD Body Balm 750 is a natural way to target a specific area of the skin, making it a great choice for addressing soft tissue inflammation resulting from the tattooing process. Trove balms have a high CBD concentration (15 mg/g), designed for fast action and intense, long lasting relief. It is not uncommon to feel relief within minutes following topical application, and results will often last from two to four hours, allowing for greater comfort and targeted pain relief.
CBD for Tattoo Aftercare: Healing, Recovery, and Maintenance
Following a tattoo session, the affected skin is typically red, swollen, and painful as the body's healing mechanisms and immune system reacts and responds. And worse yet, this is often followed by days of itchy, irritated skin. To help with these symptoms, many find that CBD tinctures provide systemic relief of pain, irritation, and discomfort in the days immediately following the tattoo process. For skin free of open wounds, topical CBD products may promote healing and recovery by offering soothing relief to irritated skin, collagen production and cellular health, targeted pain relief and anti-inflammatory benefits, as well conditioning and moisturizing effects to nurture and protect the skin and help retain the vibrancy of the tattoo. Trove CBD Body Balm 750 is a high concentration CBD tattoo cream that provides nearly immediate relief of discomfort, including pain and itchiness, and strong anti-inflammatory properties to calm redness and swelling of tattooed skin. In the weeks following a new tattoo, Trove Hydrate Body Oil may be the perfect choice to keep the skin hydrated and conditioned, preventing rubbing or peeling, thereby preventing damage or fading of the tattoo. A lovely, hydrating blend of argan, jojoba, and arnica oils, infused with organically-grown USA hemp and added essential oils of pink grapefruit and clary sage for additional soothing, brightening, and anti-inflammatory properties for all skin types, Trove Hydrate Body Oil will keep your skin moisturized and your tattoo bold, well defined, and protected. And this luxurious oil absorbs well, without a sticky or greasy residue, so you can apply it all over the body after a shower or to specific areas throughout the day.
How does CBD work?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of at least 100 chemical compounds unique to the cannabis sativa or hemp plant. These compounds are referred to as cannabinoids. You likely have heard of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the cannabinoid most commonly associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is non psychoactive and has been shown to offer a myriad of wellness benefits without the "high" effect of THC. Research and experiential evidence shows that CBD may be helpful in promoting calm, addressing pain and inflammation, and supporting the GI, nervous, and immune systems, among other useful applications. Adding to these benefits, CBD is non psychoactive, non habit-forming, and well tolerated, making it a potentially desirable supplement choice for your addressing tattoo prep and aftercare.
Cannabinoids are naturally effective in our bodies because, throughout our evolutionary development, we have been hardwired to gain the benefits of the cannabis sativa plant through the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex signaling network within the mammalian body that functions as a lock and key mechanism when cannabinoids are present or introduced into the bloodstream. These receptors exist throughout the body -- nervous, musculoskeletal, digestive, immune, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, and other systems -- and are the reason why cannabinoids can have such diverse and profound effects. [1] All mammals, including humans and companion animals, have an ECS, and the body produces "endo" (internal) cannabinoids (naturally occurring substances such as anandamide) that operate to keep the body's systems in balance. [2] However, when an external force such as injury, illness, or stress is introduced, our body's own endocannabinoids may be depleted, resulting in an interruption to homeostasis that can manifest as anxiety, pain, inflammation, sleep disturbance, compromised immune function, and more. CBD and related "phyto" (plant) cannabinoids are natural compounds that can supplement the body's own cannabinoids and lock into cannabinoid receptors to address the imbalance and restore homeostasis. [3] In addition, research suggests that CBD may also interact in potentially beneficial ways with other neurotransmitter systems and receptors that support normal levels of other "feel good" brain chemicals such as serotonin. CBD and Tattoos: Step by Step
Step 1: Pre-tattoo
Trove CBD Oil 750 (one-half to one full dropper under the tongue once or twice daily) or Trove CBD Capsules 25 (one capsule once or twice daily) starting several days or weeks prior to your session will help calm your nerves and provide ongoing systemic relief of pain and inflammation. Trove CBD Balm 750 applied topically to the area of your planned new skin art, will help condition and nurture the skin and provide ongoing, targeted pain relief and anti-inflammatory benefit.
Step 2: The Tattoo Session
Trove CBD Oil 750 (one-half to one full dropper) or Trove CBD Capsules 25 (one capsule) at least an hour prior to your session will help starve any heightened anxiety, keep your body calm and still for the tattoo artist, and help manage pain and inflammation during the process. Your tattoo artist may apply an antibacterial cream or ointment and cover the new tattoo with clingfilm. Follow his/her directions for same-day follow up care.
Step 3: 1-3 Days Post Tattoo
In the immediate days following the tattoo session, your skin is likely to be red, inflamed, and painful, and you may see some discharge. It is best to wash gently with clean water, avoiding soap, lotions, or other products that may irritate your skin. Try to avoid covering the skin or rubbing against clothing or bedding, as keeping your tattoo exposed to the air will hasten recovery. You can continue with Trove tinctures or capsules for systemic anti-inflammatory benefits and continued relief of discomfort as well as much needed stress relief and improved sleep.
Step 4: 3+ Days Post Tattoo
If all is going well, and there is no evidence of infection or open skin, you may add Trove CBD Balm 750 to help manage pain and inflammation, nurture the skin, and aid in recovery. As your skin recovers, the CBD tattoo cream will allow both the outer layers of your skin as well as the deeper layers of tissue to fully heal. A combination of Trove CBD tattoo cream and Trove Hydrate Body Oil will help restore balance and a return to normal. Of course, you can continue with Trove tinctures or capsules for systemic anti-inflammatory benefits and continued relief of discomfort.
Step 5: Long-term Tattoo Aftercare
After a few months, your skin should be well on the way to full recovery, and showing off the work of art you had hoped for. To keep your tattoo vibrant, well defined and fabulous, keep moisturizing with Trove Hydrate Body Oil, applying not just to the area of the tattoo, but all over the body for best results. Be sure to apply sunscreen to any exposed areas. And, naturally, continue with Trove tinctures or capsules for optimal health and wellness.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 1-5, Above, for Your Next Tattoo!!
*Always consult with your healthcare provider prior to adding CBD or any supplement to your wellness regimen, specifically relating to interaction with any prescription drugs you may be taking.
